The Watson name and why I chose this blog layout...

Hello!  My name is Michele Watson.  I am the daughter of Gerald W. Watson and a descendant of my great-grandfather John W. Watson from Washington County, Tennessee.  Our family has roots in Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee.  Our roots are also in Avery County, North Carolina.

When I reflected on the Watson family history earlier today, there are four attributes that came to mind.  The Watsons were very hard workers.  Stubbornness ran within our family...still does. ;D.  It was challenging to start something only to leave it for tomorrow.  They liked to get the job done fairly, correctly, and be proud of their contributions.  Secondly the Watsons were nature lovers.  They studied nature, grew crops in their gardens, and planted flowers.  They were born with a "green thumb".  Next the Watsons were born storytellers.  My dad always had good stories to tell.  Even my newly-discovered kin in North Carolina said they found storytellers in the North Carolina Watsons as well.  Lastly the Watsons were interested in how mechanical objects worked and usually took an interest in automobile mechanics.  My grandfather had a good mechanical sense according to my father who learned so much from him about auto mechanics and repair.  My father later repaired automobiles in World War II.

This blog background reminds me of who the Watsons were and are.  The tree shown reminds me of a tree that could have been at my dad's old homeplace...a tree that he might rest under after plowing a field or working in their garden.  The tree represents nature.  My dad transplanted trees from his old homeplace to ours when our homeplace was built.  It makes me proud to know he did this with his own hands and those trees are still standing tall in our yard today.  The "follow me" in the blog scene reminds me that there is always a story to tell within the Watson family.  Again they were wonderful storytellers. :)

As I update this blog I will attach any stories I have on family members that I can remember.  My great-grandfather and grandfather passed before I ever knew them.  Any stories I post regarding them will be from information passed down from other family members.

My posts will be as simplistic as possible.  I find it highly overwhelming when naming cousins down the line extensively.  It can make it overwhelming for others as well.  I will be listing the children of those already listed in this blog later.

Thank you for viewing the blog! :)
